Gov. Otti Fulfills Promise of Coaster Bus for Abia State Sports Council

Governor Alex Otti has made do his promise of providing a brand new coaster bus to the Abia State Sports Council.

This donation is coming 20 years after the Council received such gift from the Abia State Government, which dates back to the administration of former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu.

Speaking when the jubilant staff of the Council presented the coaster bus to him, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Sir. Nwaobilor Ananaba thanked Governor Otti who he described as “Chioma Ndi Sports” for what he is doing in the state, particularly in sports development.

Sir. Ananaba appreciated the governor for fulfilling his promise, noting that, if not for the commitment of the Governor in sports, the Council would not have gotten to the level of success it has achieved.

“I thank His Excellency Chioma Ndi Sports, but for him, this would not happen, but for him, we wouldn’t have gone to Paris, but for him, we will not win all these medals.

“I wish you all the best. Please represent us well and make us proud,” he stated.

In his speech, the Director of Sports, Abia State Sports Council, Comrade Obioma George who was full of praises for Governor Alex Otti, said he has done so much in the area of sports development.

Comrade George described the bus donated to them as promised made and promise fulfilled.

“He (Governor) said he will give us bus and today, see a brand-new bus. Our governor is a man wey dey work e dey show.

“He took these athletes to Paris and they made Nigeria proud in paralympic , the younger ones went to Asaba and bettered our records from 22nd position in Nigeria to 10th position.

“And His Excellency received the state contingent and gave them a very powerful award of 75 million Naira. He has done so much.

“The Council was almost going moribund but only for his coming, life has returned. Abia State today is a place where so many national federations want to come with their sports.

“Today, sixteen States are in Abia competing in the National Handball Under 12 and  15, Abia started on a good note , the first match of Abia team , Abia trashed Osun State 30/10,” Comrade George stated.

Also speaking, some staff of the Sports Council including Lady Nnenne Ugo-Oleka, Abia State Athletics Secretary, Mrs. Grace Ihuoma Ejika and Games Secretary and Secretary of Basket ball, Mr. Stanley Enyinnaya Adindu while appreciating the governor for the gift, described him as a man of his words.

The staff who said that, for years, they had made several appeals to former administrations to donate vehicle for them all to no avail, said the gesture would spur them to do better than they have been doing and win more laurels for the state.
