Building Highly Skilled, Effective Workforce, Critical Component of Otti’s Administration in Abia – SSG

Building a highly skilled and effective workforce, capable of delivering exceptional results in governance and public service is a critical component of the present administration in Abia State.

The Secretary to the Abia State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, stated this in Umuahia at the opening ceremony of a two-day Capacity Building Training Workshop organized by his office for staff of the cabinet office.

The SSG maintained that the aim of the workshop is to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge that will enhance their performance and contribute to effective and efficient delivery of services in the cabinet.

Prof. Kalu, further emphasized the importance of the capacity building in achieving the State government’s vision of resetting and rebuilding Abia State for the benefit of all.

He urged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge.

In their goodwill messages, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, the Chief of Staff, Prince Okey Kanu, Commissioner for Information commended the Secretary to the State Government for the initiative and charged participants to make use of the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Earlier, the State Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojoekere called on the participants to make good use of the opportunity to equip themselves with functional skills and knowledge for efficient service delivery.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, office of the SSG, Dr. Godwin Okezue said that the workshop is designed to enable participants leverage on the wealth of experience of the resource persons as well as work with the foundational skills and knowledge to work efficiently in the cabinet office.

The workshop which is scheduled to last for two days, has the theme: “Cabinet Foundational Skills in Cabinet Operations, Processes and Governance for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery”

It featured lectures on essentials of minutes and report writing in the public service, foundational skills in cabinet office, confidentiality in service by the Lead Facilitator Mac John Nwobiala a retired Federal Permeant Secretary and other experienced resource persons from the Federal cabinet office.
